Dr. Gary Scott founded Lodestar Magnetics in 1983 after designing and installing the first large volume and economical shields in existence.  Lodestar has installed over 60 shields since the company's founding.

Joe Butterworth M.S.

  • M.S., San Diego State University

General Manager

Joe Butterworth has more than 30 years’ experience managing domestic and international projects in the field of structural geology and applications of paleomagnetism to the geotechnical and petroleum industries. For Lodestar Magnetics, Joe has managed all aspects of design, prefabrication and assembly of magnetically shielded laboratories for research at major universities and institutions throughout North America, Europe, Australia, Russia and the Middle East.

Peter Wilczynski

Foreman, Installation Manager

Peter Wilczynski began constructing shields for with Lodestar Magnetics in 1984 maximizing the design of each laboratory space to meet rigorous scientific specifications and exceptional aesthetic standards. Peter’s extensive construction background and precision woodworking skills have created unique workspaces for now sixty one large volume shields.

Matt Liotta-Butterworth

Project Advisor

Matt began working with Lodestar Magnetics in 2009 at the installation of the second UC Davis lab.  Starting as a crew member, Matt’s business acumen and skills at project management brought about his promotion to project advisor.

Glenn Gragg

Senior Technician

Glenn Gragg has been working with Lodestar Magnetics since 2013 and has worked on nine shield installations.

Scott Pastrone

Project Manager

Scott Pastrone manages projects for Lodestar Magnetics and has been with the company for 2 years.

Tony Crane

Technician

Tony Crane has been working with Lodestar Magnetics since 2010.   Tony has lent his carpentry skills to five projects.
